Welcome to our havurah

The Jewish Alternative in Chicago’s Western Suburbs

Gale House Congregation Shir Ami was established in 1982. We are a smallish, egalitarian, conservative havurah. There’s no rabbi here, so we read, learn, and celebrate Jewish traditions all by ourselves.

Our services are traditional (the standard Hebrew format) but informal with discussions and interruptions in English.

We are located at 124 N. Kenilworth Ave., Oak Park IL 60302, next to the famous Unity Temple, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. On-street parking can be found in the neighborhood.

Shabbat services occur on Saturday mornings around 10:00, and end around 12:30. The first Shabbat of each calendar month is a pot-luck, kosher-dairy luncheon—bring something with a K, U-O, or C-R-C marking.
